I used to walk right by this place since it opened because $9 for a bowl of wonton noodle soup seemed steep compared to the $7 max at other Chinese spots in the neighborhood. But I finally decided to give it a try and realized I've been missing out. The wontons are huge, and so are the fish balls. They're not the typical packaged, fried kind; these are giant, handmade fish paste balls. You can also skip the noodles and just get wontons and fish balls in soup (instead of noodles they just seem to give you extra wontons) if you're avoiding carbs - it's a great post-workout protein fix. Only thing to consider is that they have a $20 minimum on credit card
It is over. There is nothing more that I can do. This is not the same Brooklyn as I once knew. 90% of the businesses have changed, the neighborhoods have changed, and so have has the atmosphere in said neighborhoods. The food at this restaurant reflects such change, but in a good way. The wontons are superior; you can see them being made as you eat and they taste delicious. They are plump and there is no hiding what is in them. The noodles are great too and the portion is nice. As another Yelper wrote, the broth is delicious and has a nice opaque appearance with a nice, not too heavy flavor. I only wish they offered in more sizes as I would not want to leave. Maybe that is why they offer one size, though they do offer a compromise in offering extra noodles for $2 more. $20 minimum for credit cards is very high. That is price gauging. It made me very upset to see that. I was forced to order another plate of food I did not want to order, but maybe I should have brought me some cash. Either I have to live with that, deal with the fact Bensonhurst is not what it once was, or pack up my things and go back down south. In any case, I should stop acting like a northern fishwife.
Probably the best wonton soup that I've ever had. Broth super flavorful with a dark, nearly opaque, hue and very low viscosity which was surprising given the color and flavor. I believe they make their own wontons and fish balls which were the best iterations that I've had of those two as well. You could see big chunk of shrimp in the wontons, so there was no mystery regarding what was inside. Service was very quick. It's a very casual restaurant. Minimum credit card charge was $20. Soup was only about $12.
It's sooo freaking good! Best wontons I've ever had!!! It is a bit overpriced for a noodle soup or just wontons in general, but I've been craving it for a while. Will come back the next time I crave it!
A small mom-and-pop noodle spot on 86th Street between Bay Parkway and 21st Ave. If you ever lived or visited Hong Kong, you would know that wonton and wonton noodles are a big part of the culture. It's quick, inexpensive, and satisfying! The menu is simple with a lot of mix and match options, which I really like. We wanted to try everything but went for the Signature Four Topping Soup, which came with Wonton, Fish Ball, Sliced Beef, and Pork Liver. This dish is weightlifter's dream - packed with protein. The Wonton is ginormous and packed with a large shrimp, meat, and flavor. The Fish Ball is bouncy and tender. We also shared a noodle with meat sauce (no soup). The sauce was light and delicious and went perfectly with all the meat. I didn't try the wonton noodles, but my nephew had it, and he said it was really good. The HK style Lemon Tea and Milk Tea are the BEST here with the right amount of sweetness and noticeable English tea taste. Quick and friendly service. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the Bath Beach/Bensonhurst area.
Recommend wonton noodles soup if you're in the area. Try their Superior Noodle Soup $15 which have wonton, fish ball, slice beef (beef brisket & beef tendon). Staffs are nice but no service. Good size store for quick eat in and go. *It's bathroom. *prefer cash
The Hong Kong milk tea here is perfect and super satisfying. I ordered the supreme wonton and it had fish balls, massive wontons, and the most tender beef. We also had the fried fish skin and the curry fish ball. The fried fish skin was not good, I wouldn't recommend at all. The curry fish ball was good and has a good amount of kick. I couldn't finish the supreme wonton cuz it was so massive. The wonton was the largest I've seen in a wonton noodle soup. There were some things that definitely was annoying though - they seemed to really not want to give me a proper to go box and said if they give me the takeout bowl it'll be an extra 50 cents which I thought was odd. They also originally gave me a flat takeout box typically for rice or dry noodles. They also don't seem to serve you water here so I guess order a drink. There's a restroom but I didn't use it. Overall I would come back and get the milk tea and maybe a smaller wonton noodle soup in the future
A cute little shop with amazing wonton noodles. I got the home made fish balls with noodles and it was amazing. It tastes authentic and fresh. Perfect for a cold day.
